MSMEs employs 1109.89 lakh Government emphasizes the promotion Programmes and Schemes for MSMEs The Government emphasizes the promotion of ecosystem for development of MSMEs in the country. Various programmes and schemes have been put in place with particular focus to develop and facilitate access to finance, skill development, infrastructure support, access to market, technology up-gradation and ease of doing business. This was stated by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Giriraj Singh while replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha. The Minister informed the House that according to Central Statistics Office (CSO), the contribution of MSME in the Total Gross Value Added (GVA) has been 31.8% during the financial year 2016-17. Funds budgeted for different schemes of the Ministry of MSMEs to support the development of MSMEs in the country for the year 2016-17 and 2017-18 have been Rs. 5462.71 crore and Rs. 6481.96 c

A useful tool for policy makers and investors MoC Releases Report on Industrial Park Rating System The Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu, released the report prepared by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, on Industrial Park Rating System (IPRS).   Speaking on this occasion, Commerce Minister said that manufacturing has emerged as one of the high growth sectors in India and it has moved 23 places up in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business (EODB-2019) and achieved rank 77 out of 190 countries. In order to ensure that India moves into the top 50 countries in Ease of Doing Business the Ministry has undertaken this exercise in studying infrastructure across states and in 3354 industrial clusters in order to assess quality of infrastructure in industrial parks. India jumps to 23 in EoDB India the top improvers in EoDB among BRICS & in South Asian country! India has improved its rank by 53 positions in- last two years and 65 positions in last four years! The World Bank released its latest Doing Business Report (DBR, 2019) today in New Delhi. India has recorded a jump of 23 positions against its rank of 100 in 2017 to be placed now at 77th rank among 190 countries assessed by the World Bank. India's leap of 23 ranks in the Ease of Doing Business ranking is significant considering that last year India had improved its rank by 30 places, a rare feat for any large and diverse country of the size of India.
