SYNTHdetect wins JNA awards!

Award for Industry Innovation of The Year The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR), a member of De Beers Group, is pleased to announce that its industry-first synthetic screening device, SYNTHdetect, was awarded Industry Innovation of the Year at last night’s JNA Awards in Hong Kong. Launched last year, SYNTHdetect is the first synthetic diamond screening device to simultaneously test multiple stones in set jewellery and has the industry’s lowest referral rate at around 0.05 per cent. IIDGR introduces SYNTHdetect XL

Allows even greater volumes of jewellery to be screened simultaneously The International Institute of Diamond Grading & Research (IIDGR), a member of De Beers Group, announced the introduction of SYNTHdetect XL, an advanced version of the highly successful SYNTHdetect synthetic screening device launched last year. Unveiled at the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, SYNTHdetect XL has a larger base unit that allows multiple volumes of jewellery to be screened simultaneously, providing even greater efficiencies for users. It also provides the opportunity to now scan larger necklaces, multiple solitaire rings and multiple bracelets, while retaining the ease of use of the original device. IIDGR to partner with NGTC

To extend diamond education courses offering in China Will improve accessibility of IIDGR’s education courses for Chinese students through delivery by local tutors in the local language, in partnership with IIDGR experts! The International Institute of Diamond Grading and Research (IIDGR), part of De Beers Group, is pleased to announce that it will partner with the National Gemstone Testing Centre (NGTC), China’s leading authority in the testing and inspection of gems and jewellery, to extend the accessibility of IIDGR’s diamond education courses to students in China. The partnership will officially launch in early 2019 with students being able to undertake IIDGR’s education courses via a mix of online training, as well as laboratory-based workshops. Anglo American rough diamond sales value for De Beers' seventh sales cycle of 2018   worth of US $505mn was lesser than Cycle 6 of US $533mn. Anglo American plc announces the value of rough diamond sales (Global Sightholder Sales and Auction Sales) for De Beers' seventh sales cycle of 2018, amounting to $505 million. Until Cycle 6, DeBeers total sales reached   US$3.4 billion in 2018 while 2017 sold total rough worth of US$5.2 billion was less than 2016 of   US$5.6 billion. Bruce Cleaver, CEO of De Beers Group, said: "De Beers Group provided Sightholders with the opportunity to re-phase the allocation of some smaller, lower value rough diamonds.
