113 carat gem-quality white diamond recovered

1st +100 carat diamond recovered from Mining Block 46 17th +100 carat diamond recovered on the Lulo, Lucapa Lucapa Diamond Company Limited announced the recovery of the 17th +100 carat white diamond by Sociedade Mineria Do Lulo (SML) from its Lulo alluvial mine in Angola.   The 113 carat gem-quality white stone is the 1st +100ct diamond recovered from Mining Block 46, immediately downstream of the Canguige river. It is particularly significant, as it shows that these large and high-value diamonds continue to occur right up to the current focus area of our kimberlite exploration program.   This recovery builds on the performance of Lulo in the latter half of 2020 and bodes well for the coming months as mining focuses on the southern terrace mining blocks during the wet season.   Lucapa is a niche diamond producer with high-value mines in Angola (Lulo) and Lesotho (Mothae). Recently at the AGM 2019, Miles Kennedy, Chairman (Non-Executive) - Lucapa Diamond Company Ltd said, Lucapa successfully built, commissioned and commenced commercial production. Lucapa’s goal is to grow as a producer. The company has to produce high-value diamonds on a sustainable and profitable basis from our two African diamond mines, Lulo in Angola and our new Mothae mine in the mountainous diamond-rich Kingdom of Lesotho. Despite being in commercial production for less than five months, Mothae has already proven itself to be one of a select few global mines producing large and high-quality diamonds. It has produced what regular Specials, rare Type IIa whites and fancy coloured gems. Mothae diamonds achieved stunning individual prices of up to US$36,000 per carat in the February commercial tender in Antwerp. Mothae was a trophy +100 carat diamond. A 46 carat diamond unearthed

Firestone recovered a white, makeable diamond Firestone Diamond plc is pleased to announce the recovery of a 46 carat white, makeable diamond from its Liqhobong Mine in Lesotho. The stone was recovered undamaged and will go on sale at the next tender which is scheduled to take place at the end of January 2019.  The company is also pleased to report a stabilisation in pricing for the smaller, lower value stones (-3 grainers) at the recent sale which was concluded on 7 December and which confirms the trend reported by other producers.
