Mothae diamonds sell for US$1.5mn

Mothae produce large and high-value diamonds   Lucapa Diamond Company announced the results of the third diamond sale in 2021 from the Mothae kimberlite mine in Lesotho. The 3,617 carat parcel of rough diamonds was sold for US$420/ carat or US$1.5 million (A$2.0 million or A$543/ carat).   As per the Diamond Sales and Purchase Agreement with Safdico International, Mothae will receive a minimum average cash flow value of US$630/ carat for the first twelve months of the Agreement. The difference between minimum average cash flow value and the selling price will be recouped by Safdico from sales delivered in the future with an average price higher than US$630/ carat. As per the Mothae JORC Resource Statement announced to the ASX on 15 October 2020, the South lobe of the Mothae kimberlite has an expected modelled value range of US$377 to US$748 for its three zones (average of US$635/ carat). The total average diamond price achieved in the three sales to date in 2021 is US$936/ carat.

Sales rough worth US$5.6m at US$1,198 per carat Lucapa Diamond Company Limited and its partner, the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, are pleased to provide an update on the first sale of diamonds in 2021 from the Mothae kimberlite mine in Lesotho. The parcel of 4,676 carats of rough diamonds were sold for a total of US$5.6 million (A$7.2 million) or US$1,198 per carat (A$1,537 per carat). This is the highest average US$ per carat price achieved by Mothae on the sale of any run of mine production parcel. Mothae returns to operation!

Known for large and high-value diamonds!   Lucapa Diamond Company and its partner, the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, announce the re-commencement of scaled mining operations at the Mothae kimberlite diamond mine in Lesotho.   Mothae has remained on care and maintenance since lockdown and isolation measures forced the suspension of operations in late March 2020 to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Mothae has now resumed mining and treatment operations in compliance with advised health measures to ensure the safety of Mothae’s employees and contractors. Mining operations will be scaled to approximately 75% of nameplate capacity due to Covid-19 protocols in place.   Lucapa Managing Director Stephen Wetherall said, “Mothae is an important contributor to the Basotho nation and Lucapa and the Government of Lesotho are excited to have most of our teams and contractors back at the mine.  We too look forward to implementing recently approved marketing initiatives that will see additiona
