Petra unearths a rare type stone!

Diamond is of Type II, D colour,   White, from Cullinan Mine Petra Diamonds confirms that it recovered a 425.10 carat D colour Type II gem quality diamond earlier at its Cullinan Diamond Mine. This recovery further demonstrates the prevalence of these types of stones in the Cullinan ore body as well as the ability of the mine’s plant to recover the full spectrum of diamonds. The stone is expected to be sold during Q4 FY 2019. Cullinan recovers 100ct white & small blue stones

Cullinan had largest rough diamond ever found at 3,106 carats Petra Diamonds Limited confirms that it has recovered a 100.83 carat D-Colour Type II gem quality diamond, following another recent recovery of a 6.12 carat Type II blue stone at its Cullinan Diamond Mine. These recoveries demonstrate the prevalence of these types of stones in the Cullinan ore body as well as the ability of the mine’s plant to recover the full spectrum of diamonds. Both stones will be included in the Company’s upcoming March 2019 tender. Cullinan earned its place in history with the discovery of the Cullinan diamond in 1905, the largest rough gem diamond ever found at 3,106 carats, which was cut to form the two most important diamonds in the British Crown Jewels. Firestone recovers makeable Diamond from Liqhobong Mine Firestone Diamond announces the recovery of a 70 carat white, makeable diamond from its Liqhobong Mine in Lesotho. This follows after a 46 carat gem diamond that was recovered in December, sold for more than US$1 million at a recently held sale. The 70 carat diamond was recovered undamaged and will go on sale at the next tender which is scheduled to take place during March 2019.   Paul Bosma, Chief Executive Officer, commented: "The 70 carat stone was recovered in the northern, low grade part of the pit where the bulk of our mining will take place in the coming months.  Although the market for the smaller stones has been under pressure, we've seen continued demand and good prices realised for special stones". Udachnaya extracted 200 carats diamond

A unique rough diamond weighing almost 200 carats was mined at the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe in mid-January 2019. A gemstone with dimensions of 40x31x20 mm and a weight of 191.46 carats was extracted at the processing plant №12 of Udachny mining and processing division. The mined diamond is transparent, with a slight yellowish tinge. “Such large gem-quality discoveries, weighing more than 100 carats, confirm that there are many unique precious minerals in the reserves of the Udachnaya kimberlite pipe. Since the beginning of the development in 1967, the pipe has given hundreds of large diamonds to our company. In the near future, this rare specimen will go to the United Selling Organization for the detailed study and evaluation,” Evgeny Agureev, Member of the Management Board, Director of the United Sales Organization at Alrosa, said. Firestone recovered a white, makeable diamond Firestone Diamond plc is pleased to announce the recovery of a 46 carat white, makeable diamond from its Liqhobong Mine in Lesotho. The stone was recovered undamaged and will go on sale at the next tender which is scheduled to take place at the end of January 2019.  The company is also pleased to report a stabilisation in pricing for the smaller, lower value stones (-3 grainers) at the recent sale which was concluded on 7 December and which confirms the trend reported by other producers. Further details will be included in the Q2 production update. The parcel consists of about 2,500 carats, including  Six top-colour Type IIa Lulo white diamonds Lucapa Diamond provides an update on diamond sales from the Lulo alluvial diamond mine in Angola. As previously advised, Lucapa has been supporting its Angolan Government partners as Angola establishes the technical regulations for the recently-gazetted diamond marketing policy being introduced as part of the Government’s diamond sector reforms. As part of these discussions, Lulo alluvial mining company, Sociedade Mineira Do Lulo, is preparing to sell certain select large premium-value diamonds in what will be the first Lulo production to be sold through the new marketing channels. The diamonds were extracted from run of mine production at Lulo and held over from previous sales by SML in anticipation of the new marketing policy being introduced. They include six top-colours Type IIa white diamonds weighing a total of 449 carats, along with a 46 carat pink diamond.

Alrosa to present the purple-pink diamond in HK September Alrosa, the world’s largest diamond producer by output in carats, will hold the first of its kind True Colour auction of coloured polished diamonds. It will be first presented during Hong Kong Gem & Jewelry Fair (HK September) in September, 2018. The collection includes 250 polished diamonds of various shapes and colours - purple, pink, orange and vivid-yellow stones with GIA-certificates, some of them of very rare shades. That will be the first time when Alrosa represents its large coloured diamonds in such quantity. The star of the show will be a fancy deep purple-pink cushion of 11 carat. According to GIA, it is the largest diamond of this colour ever certified by their lab. Another hero stones of the collection– a vivid orangey yellow diamond of over 15 carats and a cushion-shaped 11-carater of fancy vivid yellow. “It took more than a year to prepare the collection.
