  Massive achievement for the diamond industry   Ronnie VanderLinden, President- IDMA said, “Last week, the International Standards Organisation (ISO), based in Geneva, Switzerland, announced that it has ratified and published ISO standard 24016.”   ISO standard 24016 is the first-ever standard approved by ISO that specifies the terminology, classification, and methods to be used for the grading and description of single unmounted polished diamonds. The document is a comprehensive technical document, 55 pages in length, providing detailed information with tables and figures.   ISO is not known to make waves in the media, but when ISO announces a new standard, the world listens. IGI debut of elevated reports in October!

  Institute premieres modernized report style with enhanced security features The International Gemological Institute (IGI) announced a new, elevated design for its identification and grading reports that will debut in October of this year. This stationery format will be applied to IGI’s Natural Diamond, Colored Stone and Jewelry reports, giving all three a more dynamic look for the Institute’s customers.   IGI’s design update comes 45 years after the Institute issued its first Diamond report in Antwerp, Belgium in 1975. IIDGR to partner with NGTC

To extend diamond education courses offering in China Will improve accessibility of IIDGR’s education courses for Chinese students through delivery by local tutors in the local language, in partnership with IIDGR experts! The International Institute of Diamond Grading and Research (IIDGR), part of De Beers Group, is pleased to announce that it will partner with the National Gemstone Testing Centre (NGTC), China’s leading authority in the testing and inspection of gems and jewellery, to extend the accessibility of IIDGR’s diamond education courses to students in China. The partnership will officially launch in early 2019 with students being able to undertake IIDGR’s education courses via a mix of online training, as well as laboratory-based workshops.
