Skilling workforce at par with global standards   Recently, Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI) inaugurated the Jewellery Occupational Skilling Hub (JOSH) in the hands of Shyam Jagannathan, Zonal DC-SEEPZ-SEZ, C P S Chauhan, Jt DC-SEEPZ SEZ in the presence of gem and jewellery stake holders and industry fraternity.   Always GJSCI has an eye on to create an organized training and development ecosystem in the gems and jewellery industry to produce skilled workforce at par with global quality standards. India and Australia Partnership on Skilling

India and Australia further  Strengthens on Skilling Agenda!   Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and High Commission of Australia holds meeting for Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training. In an endeavor to support Vocational Education and Training (VET) in India and Australia, the Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey and Mr. Barry O’Farrell, Australian High Commissioner, today participated in a virtual meeting to operationalize & implement Cooperation in VET to promote development of occupational standards in priority industry sectors. This was in line with the joint participation of the Prime Minister of India and the Prime Minister of Australia in the India-Australia Leaders' Virtual Summit held on 4thJune, 2020.  Earlier, on this occasion, a Joint Statement for Comprehensive Strategic Partnership document between both the countries was announced including the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Change in Skill Development Programmes Post Covid-19!   Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) are imparting on-line skilling through ‘e-SkillIndia’ platform in the midst of Covid-19 lockdown.   Further, Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted the conduct of skill training programmes in physical form from September 21, 2020 onwards.  Accordingly, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) has been issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) for restarting the training.   Under PMKVY, as on 17.03.2020, 42.02 lakh and 33.66 lakh candidates have been trained and certified, respectively, under Short Term Training (STT) courses.  Out of these certified candidates, 17.54 lakh candidates have been provided with placement.  Also, 49.12 lakh candidates who already have the informal skills but are not formally certified have been oriented under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) component of the scheme.   Business Opportunities between Angola and India   Angola's minister of Foreign Affairs Téte António in Luanda expressed the country's wish to intensify cooperation with India, in order to turn economic opportunities into a strong and win-win partnership. Speaking at the opening of the Virtual Conference on “Business Opportunities between Angola and India”, the minister announced the holding of the first meeting of the Angola-India Joint Commission on the 7th September, aimed to strengthen relations. Skill Development Programmes 2020 to benefit 10mn youth The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implements the PMKV Yojana (2016 - 2020) to encourage and promote skill development for the youth throughout the country. The scheme aims to benefit 10 million youth over the period of four years (2016- 2020). The benefits under the scheme can be availed by any anyone fulfilling the criteria specified in guidelines. In addition, a Special Project is being implemented at 40 locations in 13 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal by Muthoot Fincorp Pvt Ltd. 80% of the trained candidates will be placed with Muthoot itself (Captive Placement). Biggest skill competition India concluded IndiaSkills 2018, the Country’s biggest skill competition, concluded here today, with the winners being awarded by dignitaries. Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Anantkumar Hegde and Shri Subhash Ghai, Chairman of Media and Entertainment Skills Council and India Film Director gave away the awards in 46 trades to participants from across the country. IndiaSkills 2018 was the second edition of the nationwide competition organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India to identify, recognize, promote and reward the best talents in various skills. 23 states actively participated in organizing the competitions at the state and regional levels in which over 50 thousand participants took part. 450 participants took part in the 3-day national level competition organized in New Delhi.
