  Faceless Appeal system started!   The Income Tax Department launched Faceless Income Tax Appeals. Under Faceless Appeals, all Income Tax appeals will be finalised in a faceless manner under the faceless ecosystem with the exception of appeals relating to serious frauds, major tax evasion, sensitive & search matters, International tax and Black Money Act. Necessary Gazette notification has also been issued.   It may be noted that Hon’ble PM on 13th August, 2020 while launching the Faceless Assessment and Taxpayers’ Charter as part of, Transparent Taxation - Honoring the Honest, platform, had announced launching of Faceless Appeals on 25th September, 2020 on the birth anniversary of Pt. Focusing eCommerce Retail India!

  Alleged contraventions in e-commerce under scanner!   Representations alleging violations of extant laws by e-commerce companies have been received. In this regard, representations received are being examined by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and certain alleged contraventions under the FDI Policy, are also being investigated against certain e-commerce retail companies under provisions of Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 by the Directorate of Enforcement.   Further, several complaints against e-commerce entities, including related associate/holding companies etc, which are operating as marketplace platforms, online sellers/service providers, search engines service providers operating in different verticals etc, regarding anti-competitive behavior, are being looked into by Competition Commission of India.  In order to provide clarity to the extant FDI Policy on e-commerce, DPIIT had issued Press Note 2 of 2018 on 26.12.2018.  However, no speci

No human interface in processing BIS certificate!

  30 to 75% financial assistance to set up A&H Centre   In view of the Mandatory Hallmarking, the number of jewellers and hallmarking centres applying for Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certificate will increase manifold and to deal with increasing number of applications, an online system for issuing BIS certificate has been developed by BIS and launched by the Government on 21.08.2020. The online system enables the jewellers to submit the application for registration and fees online. In this system there will be no human interface in processing the applications. The moment a jeweller submits the application with the requisite fees, he will be granted registration.  For Assaying and Hallmarking Centres, the online system will ensure that applications to start a new centre or renew the existing license can be submitted online.  Entire process of recognition, which involves audit of the centres, submission of audit report, and grant of recognition or renewal, has been automated.

India worries diminishing Coral Reef

  India is walking the talk on Paris Agreement  and is one of the few countries compliant with it!   The Environment Ministerial Meeting (EMM) of the G20 countries took place through video conferencing under the Presidency of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Representing India, Union Environment, Climate Change and Forest Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar said, India has taken significant steps to protect environment and forest and wildlife as well as combating pollution and climate change.   Shri Javadekar said India is committed to work with G20 nations for a better world. He said India is blessed with vast bio-diversity and ecosystem. The Minister said, India has been taking measures to enhance coral reef conservation. He noted that India’s steps towards dealing with climate change have been remarkable and stated that the world has to channel its best practices to deal with climate change and to get concrete results. The Minister highlighted the efforts made by National Coastal Mission Pr
