Export India to UAE to reach US$ 10 billion in 2023

GJ Exports witness a growth of 12.28% during  April 2021 to January 2022 & totaled Rs 2.4 lakh Cr The Indian gem & jewellery export sector has shown quick recovery post the pandemic with exports so far accounting for Rs. 2.4 lakh crores, a 12.28% growth (in dollar terms 6.5% growth to US$ 32.37 billion) during April 2021 to January 2022 as compared to Rs. 2.14 lakh crore (US$ 30.40 billion) during the same period in April 2019 to January 2020. Among the top 10 gem and jewellery export destinations, UAE has witnessed the highest fall of 41.50% followed by Belgium 15.81%, Japan 12.20%, and Hong Kong 3.06% during April 2021 – January 2022 as compared to April 2019 – January 2020. GJEPC, as the apex body of the gem & jewellery trade in India, is expecting that the imminent Foreign Trade Agreement (FTA) with UAE would help the industry to take a bigger leap in exports of Plain Gold and Gold studded jewellery which was hit badly during the pandemic. FTA paves way for duty-free jewellery exports to UAE   The FTA will fast-track India’s goal of reaching  $52 billion in exports of gems and jewellery by 2022-23   The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the apex body of gem and jewellery trade in India, applauded the historical FTA between India-UAE. GJEPC was one of the stakeholders who was closely associated with the Government, suggesting its recommendations and suggestions for the Indian gem & jewellery industry.   UAE accounts for 80% of India’s plain gold jewellery exports and 20% of studded jewellery exports. CEPA to help achieve the set target of USD 52 billion G&J exports in FY 2022-23 The 14th edition of IIJS Signature 2022, organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, Mumbai, concluded successfully on 21st February. The show witnessed nearly 950 exhibitors who occupied 1,470 booths spread across four exhibition halls. There were more than 17242 visitors, including 571 international visitors and delegations from USA, UAE, Egypt, Nepal, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh. The Signature show will encourage refilling inventory   IIJS Signature 2022, the most-awaited jewellery event of the first half of the year, has been now rescheduled to be held from 18th – 21st February at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, NESCO will be inaugurated by Chief Guest, Piyush Goyal, MoC & I, CA & F & PD, Textiles- GoI in the presence of Guests of Honours- Parshottam Rupala, Dracaena Jardosh, Vipul Bansal, Jt Sec MoC.   The inaugural event will be hosted by Colin Shah, Chairman-GJEPC with Vipul Shah, Vice Chairman-GJEPC, Shailesh Sangani, Convener National Exhibitions- GJEPC & in the presence of CoA-GJEPC and amid invitees, industry fraternity & exhibitions!    The show was initially scheduled in first week of January 2022, but Council decided to postpone the show due to surge in Covid-19 cases at that point of time.
