BDB hosted a successful Blood Donation Camp
Collects1,120 units of blood as a part of the SEEPZ drive
Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) hosted a successful two-day blood donation camp, marking a significant contribution to the city's healthcare ecosystem. The event garnered overwhelming participation from members of Bharat Diamond Bourse, MDMA (Mumbai Diamond Merchants Association), and GJEPC (Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council), underscoring their commitment to community welfare.
The
Blood Donation drive was inaugurated by Dnyaneshwar Patil, IAS, Zonal
Development Commissioner, SEEPZ- SEZ & CPS Chauhan, IRS, Joint Development
Commissioner, SEEPZ- SEZ. Speaking at the event, Shri. Dnyaneshwar Patil
underscored the critical importance of blood donation in supporting
individuals, especially Thalassemia Major Patients, in their fight against life
–threatening conditions.
CPS Chauhan, led a poignant tribute to the selfless donors and tireless volunteers who contributed to the camp’s resounding success.
Highlighting the far-reaching impact of such noble initiatives, Prasad Varwantkar IRS, Deputy Development Commissioner, highlighted SEEPZ-SEZ’s pivotal role in facilitating free blood supply to government hospitals and responding swiftly to emergencies, as seen in the recent Ghatkopar hoarding collapse incident.
Over the course of the camp, a total of 1,120 units of blood were generously donated by the members of BDB, staff and employees.
This collective effort exemplifies the spirit of compassion and solidarity within the diamond and jewellery industry, extending beyond business to directly impact public health. The donated blood has been allocated to various prominent healthcare institutions across Mumbai. Specifically, 389 units have been contributed to Tata Hospital & Blood Bank, 356 units to Jaslok Hospital & Blood Bank, 252 units to Lilavati Hospital & Blood Bank, and 123 units to V N Desai Hospital & Blood Bank. This distribution ensures that the donations reach those in critical need of blood transfusions, thereby potentially saving numerous lives.
Mehul Shah Vice President of Bharat Diamond Bourse, expressed his gratitude to all the donors and participants for their unwavering support towards this noble cause. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a healthier and more resilient community.
The
success of the blood donation camp at Bharat Diamond Bourse serves as a

The
entire blood donation camp was the part of SEEPZ – SEZ drive of record 10,000
units of blood.
