GII inaugurates new branch in Pune

Utilize gem and jewellery certification services 

Shailesh Ranka, M.D., Ranka Jewellers and President of Pune Jewellers Association was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. The event began by reciting the National Anthem, followed by the ceremonial lamp-lighting by Shailesh Ranka and GII trustees Bhagvatibhai Patel, Shripalbhai Desai, Dr. AVR Redd, CEO, GII and Pradeep Patel, GJEA.  

Dr. Reddy welcomed the guests and participants and explained about the flow of the programme. He gave very brief history of the genessis of GII that started way back in 1971 by GJEA (Gem and Jewellery Exporters Association). Because of founder fathers’ dedication and adherence to the observations based testing that helped in evolving GII as a trusted and impartial laboratory.  

He invited jewellers to utilize its comprehensive gem and jewellery certification services. He introduced Shailesh Ranka to the audience as a renowned jeweller, manager and innovator with multi-faceted talents that made him an excellent leader. He belonged to Ranka Jewellers which is 147 years old company.  

Shripalbhai Desai, GII Trustee who chaired the meeting, shared GII’s research activities and its role in advancing the gem and jewellery industry.  He mentioned that GII has all required equipment for testing and research with matching expertise because of significant contributions in R&D, Government of India recognized GII as Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO).

Shailesh Ranka was happy to be a part of GII’s significant milestone of opening its first branch in Pune. He further felt happy expansion started with Pune where his company has many branches and are well known. 

He assured the audience of his support in promoting GII’s services among Pune jewellers and committed to featuring an advertisement for GII in his magazine, Suvarnapatra.  

Novelty in this event is the presentations by Silvia Sequeira, Head Education and Senior Gemmologist, and Milind Varhadpade, Head Diamond Grading and Mobile Labs with a primary aim of providing cursory details about GII activities.

 They provided a detailed overview of GII’s services, emphasizing the institute’s impartial and transparent approach.  They also introduced GII’s Membership Program and Co-Branding Opportunities for jewellers of Pune, showcasing how GII partners derive value. Additionally, they highlighted GII’s competitive certification rates and its one-working-day certification service for diamond jewellery, regardless of volume.  

Bhagwati bhai, Trustee of GII is a renowned colour gemstone merchant and contributes significantly to the development of GII. He has proposed vote of thanks. He conveyed that presence of GJEA colleagues is very apt as GII was started by GJEA in 1971.  

The event commenced with ribbon-cutting at the new branch by the Chief Guest Shailesh Ranka. The inauguration marked an important step in strengthening GII’s relationship with the gem and jewellery community in Pune. With state-of-the-art facilities, innovative technology, and a steadfast commitment to impartiality, GII is set to serve as a trusted partner for jewellers in Pune.  

Dr. Reddy, CEO of GII, showed the Laboratory and the testing facilities of GII Pune Branch to the Chief Guest and other Guests. Shailesh Ranka enquired about the institute’s latest innovation, the D-Vision Pro, a cutting-edge synthetic diamond detector machine. Its ability was demonstrated by finding out a moissanite in a ring and D Vision Pro highlights GII’s commitment to advancing technology in gem testing.  

Kirti Das and team of GII worked hard to setup laboratory and Heads of the Divisions took special care to equip the lab.
