Marks Two Decades of Innovation and Global Expansion 

In a recent statement, Debbie Azar, President and Co-Founder of Gemological Science International (GSI), proudly announced the celebration of GSI’s 20th anniversary. Reflecting on the organization’s journey, she shared, “Recently, we proudly celebrated GSI’s 20th anniversary. Looking back, it feels like just yesterday when Mark Gershburg and I sat down with a vision to create a different kind of gemological laboratory, one that would sit at the intersection of manufacturers and retailers, truly understanding and addressing the needs of both.” 

Over the past two decades, GSI has grown into a trusted global gemological institution, distinguished by its strong foundation built on: 1. Advanced technological instrumentation, 2. Significantly reduced delivery timelines, 3. Unwavering commitment to integrity and transparency, 4. A rapidly expanding global footprint & 5. Scalable and efficient production capabilities. 

Azar noted that while the business landscape continues to evolve—with shifts in the natural vs. lab-grown diamond market, increasing material and labor costs, and heightened logistical demands—GSI remains focused on addressing these emerging challenges head-on.

To support its retail and manufacturing partners more effectively, GSI is implementing several forward-thinking initiatives; 1: Expanding its Trade Portal with new user-friendly features to improve operational efficiency, 2: Streamlining internal workflows to further reduce turnaround times, 3: Enhancing its screening and detection systems, currently processing tens of thousands of jewelry items daily, 4: Investing in its jewelry quality control department & Broadening its colored gemstone services.  

Underscoring its global commitment, GSI proudly announced the opening of its newest laboratory in Bangkok. This strategic expansion not only strengthens the organization’s international reach but also offers clients increased flexibility and a wider range of services. With a blend of cutting-edge technology, customer-centric innovation, and a commitment to quality, GSI is well-positioned for continued leadership in the gemological industry for years to come.

India kept Check & balances on Gem & Jewellery Import

  Global scenarios have impacted India’s GJ exports 2024-2025   India’s overall gross exports of Gem & Jewellery (GJ) remained at US$ 2582.97 million (Rs. 22340.89 crores) in the month of March 2025 is showing a growth of 1.02% (5.24% in Rs. term) as compared to US$ 2556.97 million (Rs. 21228.71 crores) for the same period previous year.   The overall gross imports of Gems & Jewellery in India registered at US$ 1939.30 million (Rs. 16783.49 crores) in month of March 2025 is showing a decline of 7.20% (-3.26% in Rs. term) as compared to US$ 2089.76 million (Rs. 17349.51 crores) for the same period previous year.
