Right with inaugural IIJS arena led swiftly their non-stop buzz & activities. The entire world’s eyes are on the India market, which is one of the top four economies globally had march ahead from the Fragile 5 in the previous government before 2014. On the Purchasing power Parity India is the third largest nation in the global economy.

A: Government Initiatives:

In the earlier stage had convinced that Globalisation is on the ventilator any time that may get end. And therefore Shri Narendra Modi government adopted well tested, Free Trade Agreement between different countries on the win-win base.

India is focusing on FTA & same similar like FTA. Free Trade Agreements with the UAE and Australia have already delivered tangible benefits, In the meantime the recently concluded India–UK FTA is set to be a game-changer after three years extensive brainstorming.

Settled earlier the CEPA India is eying on untapped regions across GCC, North Africa, CIS, and Europe. Now from the much awaited India-UK Free Trade Agreement India is eyeing on India-US bilateral trade agreement among others. FTAs Unlocking New Growth Opportunities. India is chasing and equally analysing all those related pro & cons in the context of short term & long term from all those 10 sides.

Kirit Bhansali stated, “With the support of our Central and State Governments, bold leadership, and a deeply skilled workforce, I believe we are not just prepared to navigate the present but also, we are ready to shape the future. Let us move ahead with confidence & working together across ministries, institutions, and industry segments to keep the momentum going and position India as the world’s most trusted and admired source for gems and jewellery.”

B: Inside the IIJS dome:

It was reported that all those previously held domestic expositions had concluded with remained slow, remarks. And number of vibrant & potential exhibitors were fainted with back to back domestic expositions and most similar exhibitors & visitors slow buying. Because, exhibitors cannot change showcase so swiftly and buyer can’t sale to their end user. Every gem & jewellery player know the cycle of sales. Many exhibitors said now we will exhibit only in the selected shows.

Meaning, virtually every gem & jewellery buyer-exhibitor remained in waiting to attend the IIJS Premier 2025. It’s a trend that exhibitors craft and curve new collections to showcase and to launch exclusively. And virtually exhibitor’s showcased entire spectrum. Equally visitors entered in the IIJS arena with own check list to source to meet the daily demand, to cater their buyer for the festive season and also source by keeping wedding season & micro counting its’ dates. Now a days, they also consider their buyer’s age category & their taste-n-preferences.

Over all the response from exhibitors and retailers remained overwhelming, setting the stage for a record-breaking event had reaped its result. Initially the high sentiment had set drive ₹70,000 crore in business over the next quarter by sourcing from the IIJS Premier 2025.

As the industry continues to grow, IIJS has been instrumental in fostering its development. The show had played a pivotal role in transforming the Indian gem and jewellery industry into an organised and globally competitive sector. Now more corporate players are entering in the swiftly organising Jewellery. Thanks to Shri Narendra Modi Government, who taken adoption of Reforming Gold Market Report in the early stage.

Indian jewellers have to leverage their 5,000 years rather India is over 10K years matured cultural heritage to induce aspiration desire. The GJEPC aims to enhance the show’s international appeal by focusing on an international section and attracting more foreign buyers. Jeweller exporters need to take pride in our rich design legacy to emulate countries such as Turkey, Italy and Bangkok.

GJEPC remained successful in facilitating connections with over 15 international delegations and 3,000 international visitors. GJEPC also encourage their participation in initiatives like IJEX in Dubai, which has enabled companies to open offices there after gaining experience.

Equally, Machinery and allied services, also flourished. The success stories of numerous companies that have expanded into multimillion dollar enterprises by leveraging IIJS as their primary business platform further illustrate its significance. Even is believing more to remained with cutting edge technology & tools.

Overall, the 41st IIJS Premier remained successful and exhibitors are believing that the show must have crossed the targeted ₹70,000 crore. Well, now everybody is waiting for GJEPC’s statement on the business estimated at the IIJS Premier 2025.

Talk of the IIJS dome:

The IIJS Premier 2025 also eyed on a big business generation of billions of dollars in exports with several policy initiatives. Now doubt, that remained up to mark amid gloomy scenario created by Donald Trump Tariff terror! this was the talk of the IIJS Premier dome.

Trumps Tariff is the classic case of un justice to India and singling India out with heavy illogical Tariffs, the government of India is sorting it out from both of the front, 1: India-US Tariff talk & 2: To support Export fraternity.

1: India-US Tariff talk: The prudent & committed to Nation First Policy; the Union Government of India is moving with all those diplomatic tools-n-tech amid oppositions nonsense to call spade a spade, they insisting upon that Shri Narendra Modi should speak out Trump by using non diplomatic language, is utter-nonsense!

Perhaps Shri Narendra Modi government is approaching from all those side to halt & curb to illogical tariff of US. Even in the month of March Piyush Goyal held meeting with US Trade Representative (USTR) and proposed if not FTA, India-US can chart Multi-Sector Bilateral Trade Agreement (MSBTA). Now, US delegation is coming to India.

I think the Narendra Modi will move ahead on the Tariff issue with its most refined diplomacy & other alternative ways to mitigate tariff impact on our export fraternity. Yet, now, the Trump’s irrational behaviour is not just restricted up to tariff but also, it’s a wider and therefor India should loud on the nation first policy.

Indeed, now Trumps gloves are off and this is the time for Shri Narendra Modi to move beyond the diplomatic approach. No doubt India has changed its’ own way of hiking exports, well in advance to mitigate any such childish protectionism approach & injustice. Now India is moving away from US polar global world order to a multi powered world order.

2: To support Export fraternity: During my talk with export fraternity in the dome, they were talking about polished diamonds exports to US in the state of Donald Trump’s tariff regime. Question was how to mitigate. My submission remained clear, the government is looking at all those pro & cons from all those ten sides and in the context of short term & long term as well.

In the Basket of India’s total exports US is contributing around just 2% rest 98% is contributed by the Rest of world. The ongoing government is encouraging Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and now; to face the tariff trouble, they are charting to announce a support of Rs 20 billion for the mitigation.

5: What buyer sourced:

As we read previous, buyer had own check list and they meet the list from the showcases. over all entire spectrum & all those related tech-n-tools remained sourced. Buyer class in general remained business oriented they remained least bothered about Trumps Tariff Terror.

They exhibited their confidence in Modi- he is right man on the seat. Trump is not knowing Modi, by mistake he has opened a wrong & old book to handle India in the era. They were sure about Modi, will react & will pay in same coin. At the time Trump will find no escape way!

6: IIJS Activities:

Additionally, the Innov8 seminar is an ideal venue for young entrepreneurs, CEOs, and family jewellers to network in a less busy environment than the main show. GenNext has taken over the nosiness charge, virtually; completely. GJEPC created an Innov8 pad auditorium there for TED-talk style sessions, with two to three sessions daily over five days.

A: Honouring the Trailblazers of the Industry:

Soon after the inaugural ceremony at BEC, the spotlight shifted to a heartfelt felicitation of industry pioneers who have played a defining role in shaping the Indian gem and jewellery landscape. As a tribute to visionaries whose dedication has propelled the industry forward.

IIJS Premiere 2025 honoured five stalwarts for their outstanding contributions and exemplary leadership: 1: Dinesh Lakhani, Kiran Jewels India; 2: Ghanshyam Dholakia, Hari Krishna Exports Pvt Ltd; 3: Arvind Ranawat, SwarnShilp Chains-n-Jewellers Pvt Ltd; 4: K Srinivasan, Emerald Jewel Industry India Ltd; 5: Siddharth Gupta, ACPL Exports Pvt Ltd.

The celebration reached its pinnacle with a special moment - honouring a true visionary of the gem and jewellery industry. A disruptor, a seeker, and a believer, this dynamic leader has consistently charted new territories and driven transformational change at Titan Company Limited. Watching him receive the Legend of Legends honour in a candid moment made the occasion truly unforgettable.

Recognising Jewellery Associations of Maharashtra:

A special moment at IIJS Premiere 2025 was the felicitation of Heads of key Jewellery Associations from Maharashtra, who have played an instrumental role in the evolution and success of IIJS over the years. GJEPC acknowledged their relentless support and leadership, which has strengthened the ecosystem and provided a collective voice to industry stakeholders. Their shared presence under one roof symbolised unity and the power of collaboration in building India’s gem and jewellery narrative.

The 10th edition of Jewellers for Hope:

The 10th edition of Jewellers for Hope, the flagship charity fundraiser of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), illuminated Mumbai with a powerful blend of compassion, commitment, and celebration of social impact. Coinciding with IIJS Premiere 2025, this milestone gathering united industry leaders, philanthropists, and dignitaries to mark a decade of transformative giving.

Since its inception in 2014, Jewellers for Hope has channelled over ₹12 crore—galvanised by star power—towards 20 NGOs championing healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, and social welfare. This year’s proceeds will benefit the RK HIV AIDS Research and Care Centre, a pioneering force in humanitarian healthcare. With more than 33,000 free medical camps and outreach to over 5 crore people nationwide, its reach is both vast and life-changing.

Supported by a network of eminent doctors, many heading departments in top hospitals across 50+ cities, the organisation has delivered remarkable results: over 37 lakh spectacles distributed, 3.5 lakh wheelchairs provided, nearly 1 lakh surgeries performed, and free medicines worth more than ₹500 crore supplied to those in need.

Its mission to serve the most marginalised is driven by 26 advanced cardiac ambulances and 14 mobile medical vans, bringing aid and awareness to remote communities in states like West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Maharashtra. These mobile units not only deliver treatment but also promote preventive healthcare, screenings, and health education that carrying hope to those often left behind.

The evening’s most moving moment came with the presence of Anil Kapoor, whose warmth and sincerity resonated deeply with the audience.

GJEPC Unveils, Forty Under 40 - at IIJS Bharat 2025:

In a defining moment at IIJS Premiere 2025, the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) honoured 40 of the brightest young professionals under the age of 40 through its distinguished initiative, Forty Under 40.

This visionary recognition celebrates the next generation of leaders who are shaping the future of India’s gem and jewellery trade. As part of GJEPC’s larger commitment to foster sustainable growth and innovation, Forty Under 40 stands as a testament to the industry’s evolving mindset—one that embraces change, values fresh ideas, and empowers young professionals.

The honourees exemplify vision and agility, leveraging digital tools, design thinking, and global insights to lead their businesses into a new era. Their recognition underlines a larger narrative of India’s gem and jewellery sector emerging as a vibrant, tech-forward, and inclusive industry.

Kirit Bhansali, Chairman of GJEPC, remarked on the importance of this initiative, stating, “The Forty Under 40 initiative is our way of recognising the future of India’s jewellery trade. These young leaders are not only shaping their own enterprises but are also inspiring transformation across the entire ecosystem.”

7: Concluding:

Now I am convinced from the concluded IIJS Premier 2025 that the IIJS exhibitions next will be IIJS Bharat and accordingly, IIJS Bharat looks on the boulevard to extend its ambit up to horizon! These swift moving activities in the dome of 41 edition, indicates a reform & perform to transform in its new effective, impressing & influential Avatar!

Just support the Union Government and ensure the positive & appropriate result from the Trump Tariff Terror just wait & ensure befitting reactions from Shri Narendra Modi, leave no stone unturn to turn the Tariff.

GJEPC always remained growing with the prudent leadership untill now. This is the time to focus on all those FTAs to explore their potentials. In the meantime, just calculate what we are risking with US in the Trump era. Look at the available export figures of Gem & jewellery:

According to the GJEPC, as of 2023, 2024, we exported Cut & Polished diamonds worth US$7972.16 million in 2023 and that tumbled in 2024 & totaled US$5601.24 million. While Gold Jewellery category that includes both, studded & plain gold jewellery registered US$2487.51million in 2023 & that grew to US$2547.31 million.

Yet it would be interesting to note, In the past we have seen the turning that came soon after withdrawal of the GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) provided India with a significant benefit on jewelry exports to the US by offering reduced or zero import duties, making Indian jewelry more competitive.

According to the GJEPC, “However, exports plummeted by approximately 50% to US$1,013.68 million within a year after the GSP benefit was withdrawn in 2007. Although exports began to recover in 2015, they did not return to the previous level of over US$2 billion until 2022, approximately 15 years after the GSP benefit was withdrawn from India.”

Additionally, there are four States of USA that attract Zero Tariff on gem & jewellery said GJEPC. Even in the past we had tested water of the US$ 06 billion worth CIS nations Now this is the time update the risk around CIS nations. This is the to revive all those previous attempts and efforts to expand horizon.
