IIGJ Delhi earns DSEU accreditation

 

launches Bachelor of Design in Jewellery Design 

The Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ Delhi), with a proud legacy of 39 years in gems and jewellery education, has opened a new chapter with the accreditation of its Delhi institute by the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). This recognition marks a milestone for IIGJ as it strengthens its academic standing while continuing to deliver industry-relevant learning. 

IIGJ Delhi has steadily evolved into a hub for advanced training in jewellery design and manufacturing. Over the years, the campus has offered a wide range of diploma and certificate programmes in fields such as jewellery design, gem studies, CAD, and manufacturing, equipping students with the technical knowledge and confidence to step into professional roles. 

The newly introduced Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Jewellery Design is a comprehensive four-year programme that combines academic rigour with practical training.

 Students will gain exposure to design concepts, modern manufacturing practices, and entrepreneurial skills, along with access to IIGJ’s advanced labs and workshops. The programme is designed to nurture the next generation of jewellery professionals who can thrive in a global, innovation-driven industry.  

“This recognition reflects our commitment to nurturing future-ready jewellery professionals who combine creativity with technical mastery,” said Debasish Biswas, CEO IIGJ. “It allows us to align our offerings with university standards while retaining the strong industry linkages IIGJ is known for.” Since its inception, IIGJ has trained more than 22,000 professionals across its seven centres in Mumbai, Jaipur, Delhi, Varanasi, Udupi, Guwahati, and Ratnagiri. With advanced laboratories, state-of-the-art workshops, and close partnerships with leading jewellery houses, the institute has consistently balanced heritage with innovation, building a reputation for high-quality education and meaningful career outcomes.  

The accreditation of IIGJ Delhi by DSEU marks a pivotal moment not just for the campus but also for the wider jewellery education ecosystem. By combining academic recognition with industry relevance, IIGJ continues to reaffirm its mission of producing skilled professionals who are ready to lead the sector into the future.

India kept Check & balances on Gem & Jewellery Import

  Global scenarios have impacted India’s GJ exports 2024-2025   India’s overall gross exports of Gem & Jewellery (GJ) remained at US$ 2582.97 million (Rs. 22340.89 crores) in the month of March 2025 is showing a growth of 1.02% (5.24% in Rs. term) as compared to US$ 2556.97 million (Rs. 21228.71 crores) for the same period previous year.   The overall gross imports of Gems & Jewellery in India registered at US$ 1939.30 million (Rs. 16783.49 crores) in month of March 2025 is showing a decline of 7.20% (-3.26% in Rs. term) as compared to US$ 2089.76 million (Rs. 17349.51 crores) for the same period previous year. Looking at the whole year’s activities for the period of April 2024 to March 2025, overall gross exports of Gems & Jewellery-India at US$ 28500.08 million (Rs. 241089.50 crores) is showing a decline of 11.72% (-9.82% in Rs term) as compared to US$ 32283.05 million (Rs. 267350.83 crores) for the same period previous year.    Equally, at...
