Covid-19 obstructed Russia KP Chair!

Postponement of Russia's Chairmanship to 2021 Botswana's Chairmanship to 2022   Recently Kimberly announced their Administrative Decision on the postponement of Russia’s Chairmanship to 2021 and Botswana’s Chairmanship to 2022 was approved under written procedure, as it received support of 46 Participants and no written objections were filed by the deadline of August 18, 2020. De facto at present, KPCS has 55 members representing 82 countries including EU with 28 members. The Kimberley Process is chaired, on a rotating basis, by participating countries. KP Vice-Chair is generally elected by KP Plenary each year who becomes the Chair in the next year.   In the year 2019 India remained the Chair of KPCS with Russian Federation as Vice Chair for the year 2019. The closing session of the KPCS held on 22nd November 2019 in New Delhi and India where India to hand over the KP Chair to the Russian Federation for the year of 2020.   Yet, pandemic Covid-19 closed the globe virtually

KP Chair India to host 300 delegates on Monday!

KP Intersessional Meeting 2019 Scheduled to be held in Mumbai To run through 17th to 21st June, 2019  The Intersessional meeting of Kimberley Process (KP) is being hosted by India from 17th to 21st June, 2019 in Mumbai. Besides meetings of different Working Groups and Committees of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), two special forums regarding Diamond Terminology and Artisanal Mining – Small Steps to Larger Outcomes, will be held during the Intersessional. Around 300 delegates from the Government of India and other participating countries, industry and civil society will be attending the five-day Meeting. India and the KPCS: India is one of the founder members of Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and is the Chair of Kimberley Process for the year 2019 with Russian Federation as Vice Chair. WDC will help create conditions in which Sub-Saharan Africa's artisanal diamond KP to enable CAR to sell artisanally-mined Expanding the scope of the Kimberley Process to include issues related to human rights and labor relations, as is being advocated by the World Diamond Council (WDC), will help create conditions in which Sub-Saharan Africa's artisanal diamond miners can meet their economic potential, and so support the development of their countries' economies, Marie-Chantal Kaninda, Executive Director of WDC, has told the 6th Forum of the Africa-Belgium Business Week, meeting yesterday in the Belgian town of Genval. Ms. Kaninda was delivering the opening address in her capacity as Honorary President of the forum, which is organized by Africa Rise, a Belgian organization that promotes Africa's economic and social emergence through contacts between its entrepreneurs and their counterparts from other parts the world. India to Chair KP from January 1

EU handed over KPCS Chairmanship   to India by passing on the gavel Gavel collected by Dr. Anup Wadhawan The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) Plenary 2018, was held in Brussels, Belgium, from 12th-16thNovember 2018.EU handed over the Chairmanship of KPCS to India from 1st January, 2019. On the concluding day of the Plenary, Ms. Federica Mogherini, High representative for Foreign Affairs and Security policy, Vice- President of the European Commission, in the closing ceremony, handed over KPCS Chairmanship to India, from 2019, by passing on the gavel to Commerce Secretary, Dr. Anup Wadhawan. During his valedictory address, Commerce Secretary, Dr. Anup Wadhawan, said that India as a KP Chair, from 01st January 2019, will be committed to make the KPCS a stronger process in terms of inclusiveness, strengthened administration and implementation, efficient in terms of delivery of what it promises, more transparent and empathetic towards the living standards
