Lulo earns on an average US$29K per carat

361 carats sold for US$10.5 million Lulo Tender  The tender, which concluded on Friday 19 April 2024, was conducted by Sodiam E.P in Luanda, Angola. The parcel of 361 carats consisted of three Type IIa diamonds weighing 42 carats, 116 carats and 203 carats.  Lucapa CEO and Managing Director Nick Selby commented, “This is the first tender of Lulo diamonds for 2024 and we are pleased to see that the outstanding quality of these Type IIa diamonds has been recognised by the diamantaires who competitively bid for the stones. An average price per carat of US$29,000 for the parcel is further proof that the high-end sector of the diamond market continues to be buoyant.”  Lucapa Diamond Company Limited together with its Lulo Alluvial Mine partners, Endiama and Rosas & Petalas are pleased to announce three exceptional diamonds recovered from the Lulo Mine in Q1 attracted US$10.5 million at tender.

Sells the rough diamond parcel of 4,273 carats First diamond sale earns US$1,375 per carat   Lucapa Diamond Company and its partners Empresa Nacional de Diamantes E.P. (Endiama) and Rosas & Petalas are pleased to announce the results of the first diamond sale of 2021 by Sociedade Mineria Do Lulo from its Lulo alluvial mine in Angola. The rough diamond parcel of 4,273 carats was sold for a total of US$5.9 million (A$7.7 million) or US$1,375 (A$1,793) per carat. Lucapa Managing Director, Stephen Wetherall commented “As with the first sale of Mothae diamonds in 2021, prices achieved by SML at this sale continued to reflect the positive industry mood, and with sales from both operations in 2021 already totalling A$15m, it has been a solid start to the year.”   Lucapa is a niche diamond producer with high-value mines in Angola (Lulo) and Lesotho (Mothae). Rough brings price of US$663per carat!

  Lucapa Diamond Company announces the results from the latest sale of diamonds from the Lulo alluvial diamond mine in Angola. A total of 3,477 carats of Lulo diamonds sold for gross proceeds of US$2.3 million (A$3.2 million) on a 100% basis, representing an average price of US$663 (A$911)/ carat. Total sales at year to date amounted to 12,266 carats for US$15.7 million (A$23.2 million) or US$1,283 (A$1,892)/ carat at Lulo diamonds. Lucapa Managing Director Stephen Wetherall commented: “SML has delivered strong operational performances soon after recommencing operations following the lockdown.  Although the average diamond size in this sale parcel was smaller than average, the encouraging signals being seen in the industry currently have led to upward price movements across a number of diamond categories.   That together with the record recoveries from the leziria areas suggests Lulo should have a much improved second half in 2020”.  

Lucapa focuses 53 drilling targets at Lulo

Lulo, the world’s highest average US$ per carat alluvial production By providing updates on Lulo diamond project in Angola Lucapa Diamond Company Limited said, the kimberlite exploration program is designed to identify the primary hard-rock source or sources of the exceptional alluvial diamonds mined at Lulo, the world’s highest average US$ per carat alluvial production.   The Lulo partners are systematically drilling ~80 targets in the current campaign proximal to, and/or upstream of, the alluvial mining blocks. Around 53 targets confirmed as kimberlites in current drilling campaign. Drill core from the confirmed kimberlites is progressively logged and exported in batches to laboratories in South Africa and Canada for mineral chemistry analysis. Further Lucapa has received the mineral chemistry results on loam samples sent to the laboratory.
