Sotheby’s hammered fancy vivid blue, VS2 Clarity     A Magnificent and Important Fancy Vivid Blue Diamond and Diamond Ring, Set with a radiant-cut fancy vivid blue diamond weighing 11.28 carats, embellished with brilliant-cut diamonds and diamonds of pink tint, mounted in 18 karat white and pink gold.   Accompanied by GIA report no. 5221971812, dated 14 June 2023, stating that the diamond is Fancy Vivid Blue, Natural Colour, VS2 Clarity; also accompanied by a diamond type classification report stating that the diamond is determined to be a Type IIb diamond.

Vladivostok auction purse $9,65mn from 121 diamonds including 58.92 & 41.48 carats! Alrosa, the world’s largest diamond miner, discloses the results of the diamond auction in Vladivostok which took place. The total revenue from the sale of special size diamonds (+10.8 carats) exceeds $9.65 million. 29 companies from Belgium, India, Israel, the UAE, the USA, Hong Kong and Russia participated in the auction. A total of 150 diamonds with a total weight of 2481.9 carats were presented. 121 stones (2030.32 carats) were sold. There were two especially large diamonds sold, 58.92 and 41.48 carats. This diamond auction again showed decent results. We selected the stones of good color and quality, and got high revenues about $10 million. Alrosa auctions 109 lots in Dubai

Dubai auction brings in $8.91mn Alrosa, the world’s largest diamond miner, reviews the results of the diamond auction in Dubai, the UAE. The total revenue from the sale of special size diamonds (+10.8 carats) exceeds $8.9 million. 109 out of 122 auction lots were sold. There were two especially large diamonds sold, 51.13 and 47.59 carats, respectively. 56 companies from Belgium, India, Israel, the UAE, the USA, Hong Kong and Russia participated in the auction. “This is our second diamond auction in Dubai this year. Beyond all doubt, this trading platform is successful. This time, the total weight of sold diamonds was more than 1,840 carats, the proceeds amounted to $8.91 million. Until the end of the year, we are going to hold 3 more auctions here, expecting the same consistently high results,” said Evgeny Agureev, member of the Executive Committee, Director of the United Selling Organization Alrosa.

Mothae diamonds debut sale worth A$5.3 mn

Highest price achieved for Mothae diamond of US$36,664 per carat Lucapa Diamond reports the results from the first sale of diamonds from the new Mothae kimberlite plant in Lesotho. The parcel of 5,411 carats of rough diamonds sold at tender in Antwerp for a total of US$3.8 million or A$5.3 million. The diamonds were recovered during the plant ramp-up phase in Q4 2018 and in the first month of commercial mining operations at Mothae in January 2019. The sale represented an overall average price per carat of US$707 (A$987) for the total run of mine parcel. The highest price achieved for an individual Mothae diamond was US$36,664 per carat. As previously noted, the efficiency of the new Mothae plant in treating the near surface weathered material has resulted in the liberation of additional diamonds, primarily small stones below the plant’s 3mm bottom cut-off screen size.  Most of these additional small diamonds are in the -11 and below sieve size fractions. By end of 2019, Alrosa to hold Five more auctions in Israel Alrosa, the largest diamond mining company in the world, held the first auction this year for special size (over 10.8 carats) rough diamonds. The auction took place in Israel. The company sold 92 large rough diamonds with the total weight of 1,570 carats. The overall revenue from sales amounted to $9.6 million. Firms from Israel, Russia, Hong Kong, Belgium, India, the United Arab Emirates and the United States participated in the auction. “The auction in Israel is the first in our schedule, and we are satisfied with its results. Until the end of the year, we will hold five more auctions here. We also continue to analyze the situation in the global diamond market and see some difficulties with demand. However, in the next two months we expect it to recover,” Evgeny Agureev, Member of the Management Board, Director of the United Sales Organization at Alrosa, said. Full range of 30K carats  each from SA & Angola Trans Atlantic Gem Sales (TAGS) will be holding a rough diamond tender from the 12th to the 19th February 2019 in the Almas Tower at the Dubai Diamond Exchange in Dubai. Two regular productions from South Africa and Angola will again be presented including a Namibian production.   All materials are of high quality and high colour. All productions contain a significant number of large single stones and exceptional specials. Interested parties are recommended to confirm their attendance promptly in order to ensure availability due to the high interest in the event and limited viewing appointments. TAGS are expecting in the region of 30,000 carats of South African goods and 30,000 carats of Angolan goods across a full range of sizes. 32 international auctions held   in six countries in 2018     In 2018, Alrosa, the largest diamond mining company in the world, held 32 international auctions for special size (over 10.8 carats) rough diamonds, receiving total revenue of $463 million for the year. The company traditionally holds auctions in six countries – Russia, Belgium, Israel, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. The largest number of auctions in 2018 was held in Moscow - 11, another 4 were held in Vladivostok. For the first time in many years, the company held two auctions at its sales office in New York, which resumed operations last year. Another six auctions took place in Ramat Gan (Israel), three in Hong Kong (China), four in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and two in Antwerp (Belgium). Alrosa has planned 37 international auctions for 2019, increasing the number of auctions in Antwerp, New York and Dubai. There will be still 11 auctions in Moscow and 4 in Vladivostok.
