Sodiam concluded special diamond auction successfully!

 

Rough diamond hammered 1,529.8 carats, raised US$ 16.88 million  

The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola (Sodiam EP) has successfully concluded its 15th special rough diamond auction, organized in collaboration with Trans Atlantic Gem Sales (TAGS). The event took place from 30 September to 07 October 2025 at Sodiam’s headquarters in Luanda, with the bidding process conducted electronically and closing on 08 October at 10:00 a.m. local time.  

The auction featured 36 exceptional rough diamonds, each weighing 10.80 carats or more, sourced from seven Angolan mining operations: Catoca, Kaixepa, Lulo, Chitotolo, Somiluana, Calonda, and Mussende. These special stones, totaling 1,529.8 carats, were made available exclusively to registered clients with expertise in trading high-value diamonds.

The sale generated a total of USD 16.88 million, exceeding the expected value by 9.14%. The proceeds were distributed among the participating mines as follows; Lulo – USD 7.08 million, Catoca – USD 5.12 million, Chitotolo – USD 1.3 million, Mussende – USD 1.06 million, Calonda – USD 808,000, Somiluana – USD 791,000, and Kaixepa – USD 726,700.  

This marks the 15th auction organized by Sodiam since 2019, reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparent and value-driven diamond trading. The strong results from the latest sale highlight Angola’s growing prominence in the global diamond market and the continued success of its modern, technology-based auction system.
