A new era of diamond security

Image
Opsydia created its smallest  Sub-surface identifier   Identifier that doesn’t affect the  Clarity grade of flawless diamonds!  Leading diamond security specialist, Opsydia, has honed its sub-surface laser technology to create its smallest and faintest identifier to date, meaning even an internally flawless natural diamond can have a logo, serial number or encrypted code placed beneath its surface without affecting its clarity grade.   These nano-scale identifiers can be placed within a diamond to create a physical link between a specific stone and its grading report, blockchain record or branded jewellery origins.  They are not detectable with a standard grading microscope and must be read at >100x magnification or with an Opsydia ID viewer – a device capable of reading identifiers that is currently in the research and development phase.  The negligible impact of a nano-scale identifier on the clarity grade of internally flawless diamonds has...

Accurate Model of Original Rough Diamond! Sarine Technologies announces the launch of yet another innovative sales tool for retailers - the 3D-Origin, a 3D-printed accurate model of the rough diamond from which the Sarine Journey-verified polished diamond was derived. The 3D-Origin model is generated as an optional add-on to the Sarine Diamond Journey rough-to-polish diamond report. It uses Sarine’s proprietary Diamond Journey cloud-based data exclusively captured during the manufacturing process. It then transforms these data into a 3D-printed physical replica of the original rough stone, from which the polished diamond was manufactured. The 3D-Origin model is identical in its geometrical dimensions and features to the actual rough diamond, scaled for consumer convenience. Every rough diamond is one of a kind. The 3D-Origin provides a uniquely tangible rendition of the polished gem's source, providing in its physical form testimony to the complex transform...

DiaCam360 to lift veil on automated diamond grading! Its automatic grading system is data analysis and AI DiaCam360 has initiated a new venture that will lead to the automated identification of a diamond’s color and clarity, based on a proprietary database of hundreds of thousands of images of diamonds that were taken with the DiaCam360. All these images were analyzed by the Deep Learning & AI (Artificial Intelligence) platform developed by the AI department of Matrix, an Israel-based, global leader in IT and software services company. All the diamonds in the database were graded by GIA and have GIA diamond grading reports. Lior Hirsh, DiaCam’s Chief Operating Officer, said that DiaCam360 and Matrix has now the ability to identify a diamond’s color matching the GIA grading reports. The trial resulted in an impressive 90 percent success rate with regard to the diamond’s color. These overwhelming, initial results were achieved without any additional efforts or re...

Diamond industry midstream Faces a reduction in manufacturing! Advent of LGD drives adverse! Halts capital equipment expenditures! By updating the Group’s revenues and profitability for Q1 2019, Sarine Technologies Ltd says, “In our FY2018, we noted that the prevailing negatives in the diamond industry midstream, which impaired our results in the latter part of 2018, were likely to continue into FY2019. Indeed, during Q1 2019 our midstream customers not only continued to experience working capital issues due to credit tightening policies implemented by Indian banks but also had to meet the latter’s call for return of some of the already extended credit by the Indian fiscal year’s end on 31 March 2019. In addition, the uncertainties caused by the advent of lab-grown diamonds (LGD) in the market, notwithstanding the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) latest criticism of certain players’ lax implementation of their directives on the full disclosure of the diamon...
