GDB property to sale for US$5.4m

Ghaghoo diamond mine The primary asset in Botswana Gem Diamonds Limited has entered into a binding agreement with Pro Civil (Pty) Ltd for the sale of 100% of the share capital of Gem Diamonds Botswana Proprietary Limited (GDB). Pro Civil is a company registered in Botswana. GDB's primary asset is the Ghaghoo diamond mine in Botswana which has been on care and maintenance since March 2017, and which is wholly owned by GDB.    GDB reported for the period ended 31 December 2018, loss before tax of BPW 49.5 million (US$ 4.9 million) and, as at the same date, had gross assets of BWP 42.3 million (US$ 3.9 million). Under the share sale agreement, Pro Civil will make a once-off upfront payment of US$5.4m for the share capital of GDB.   Gem Diamonds will use the sale proceeds for general corporate purposes.   In addition, Pro Civil will assume the environmental liability currently associated with GDB.          ...

KP Intersessional Meeting 2019 Scheduled to be held in Mumbai To run through 17th to 21st June, 2019  The Intersessional meeting of Kimberley Process (KP) is being hosted by India from 17th to 21st June, 2019 in Mumbai. Besides meetings of different Working Groups and Committees of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), two special forums regarding Diamond Terminology and Artisanal Mining – Small Steps to Larger Outcomes, will be held during the Intersessional. Around 300 delegates from the Government of India and other participating countries, industry and civil society will be attending the five-day Meeting. Sierra Leone XAG surveyed 75%

Countrywide Survey is flying to end! The Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the National Minerals Agency (NMA) informs that Xcalibur Airborne Geophysics (XAG), the company contracted to undertake the countrywide airborne geophysical survey, has successfully surveyed and collected data of over 75% of the country. The Company has flown a total of 411,548.5-line km, with an outstanding 135,994.5-line km. We further wish to inform the Public that due to the advent of the rains, which distort radiometric survey readings and affects pilot and aircraft safety, the airborne survey, has been suspended and will recommence in October 2019 for completion of the remaining 25% of the survey. Government, with support from the World Bank, is undertaking the countrywide airborne geophysical survey to collect reliable geophysical data that will help to determine the mineral potential of the country.
