Lulo recovers 131 carat type IIa diamond

The 4th +100 carat diamond recovered in 2022    Lucapa Diamond Company announces the recovery of a 131 carat white Type IIa diamond by Sociedade Mineira Do Lulo (SML). The 131 carat stone is the 29th +100 carat diamond ever recovered and the 4th +100 carat diamond recovered at Lulo in 2022.  In a comment on the occasion, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, said “Angola has proven, yet again, its enormous diamond potential. Rough diamond price rock over by 40%   Lucapa Diamond Company Limited presented its unaudited financial results for the year ended 31 December 2021. During the period, record operational performances from both SML and Mothae diamond mine with record volumes processed, carats recovered & sold and exceptional diamond recoveries. Lulo exploration sampling includes the discovery of 13 diamonds from the Canguige catchment area, including eight Type IIa diamonds, three new high-interest targets identified at Brooking, WA and successful completion of a A$21.7 million capital raising to fund the 100% acquisition of Merlin diamond mine, expedite exploration programs, advance feasibility studies and general working capital. Mothae diamonds sell for US$1.5mn

Mothae produce large and high-value diamonds   Lucapa Diamond Company announced the results of the third diamond sale in 2021 from the Mothae kimberlite mine in Lesotho. The 3,617 carat parcel of rough diamonds was sold for US$420/ carat or US$1.5 million (A$2.0 million or A$543/ carat).   As per the Diamond Sales and Purchase Agreement with Safdico International, Mothae will receive a minimum average cash flow value of US$630/ carat for the first twelve months of the Agreement. The difference between minimum average cash flow value and the selling price will be recouped by Safdico from sales delivered in the future with an average price higher than US$630/ carat. As per the Mothae JORC Resource Statement announced to the ASX on 15 October 2020, the South lobe of the Mothae kimberlite has an expected modelled value range of US$377 to US$748 for its three zones (average of US$635/ carat). The total average diamond price achieved in the three sales to date in 2021 is US$936/ carat.

The consumption and strong demand that saw the diamond industry commence its recovery in Q3 2020 continued into the festive period, favourably impacting both rough and polished diamond prices. Lulo unearths 104 carat D-colour white diamond

18th +100 carat diamond recovered on the Lulo concession to date Lucapa Diamond Company announced the recovery of the 18th +100 carat white diamond by Sociedade Mineria Do Lulo from its Lulo alluvial mine in Angola.   The recovery of this second +100 carat diamond from Mining Block 46 (MB46), a 104 carat D-colour white stone, so soon after the 113 carat D-colour white stone, indicates the potential for these blocks as we move deeper into the southern terraces. In addition, the proximity of MB46 to the high priority kimberlites in the Canguige catchment further reinforces their prospectivity. Lucapa is a niche diamond producer with high-value mines in Angola (Lulo) and Lesotho (Mothae). The Lulo alluvial mine and Mothae kimberlite mine both produce large and high-value diamonds, with >75% of revenues generated from the recovery of +4.8 carat stones. Lucapa to acquire Merlin diamond mine

72 chromites recovered from recent loam and stream sampling Sampling results indicate the presence of three new lamproites   Lucapa Diamond Company reports the positive results from the latest sampling work carried out at the Brooking Diamond Exploration Project in Western Australia’s West Kimberley lamproite province which included the recovery of a total of seven diamonds, of which two are macro-diamonds (>0.5mm diameter).   A total of 72 chrome spinels (or chromites), visually identified as a type associated with lamproites, were also recovered from loam and stream sampling. A follow up exploration program involving heavy mineral stream and loam sampling complemented with soil geochemistry sampling was undertaken at Brooking over six identified target areas.   Lulo get an average rough price of US$1,550 a carat   Lucapa Diamond Company and its partners Endiama and Rosas & Petalas are announce the results from the latest sale of diamonds from the Lulo alluvial diamond mine in Angola, Sociedade Mineira Do Lulo. A total of 4,269 carats of Lulo diamonds sold for gross proceeds of US$6.6 million (A$9.0 million) on a 100% basis, representing an average price of US$1,550 (A$2,100)/ carat.   Mothae Diamond Resource increased by 280%!            Lucapa Diamond Company announced an updated JORC classified Indicated and Inferred Diamond Resource estimate for the Mothae kimberlite diamond mine in Lesotho, southern Africa. A total JORC classified Indicated Resource has been estimated for 9.2 million tonnes, containing ~280,000 carats of diamonds at a diamond grade of 3.10 carats per one hundred tonnes and an average un-escalated modelled diamond value of US$635 per carat.   This Indicated Resource has been estimated to 75m depth below the current pit floor in the South Lobe at a nominal 3mm bottom cut-off size. In addition, a total JORC classified Inferred Resource has been estimated for 39.4Mt, containing ~960,000 carats of diamonds at a diamond grade of 2.44 cpht and an average un-escalated modelled diamond value of US$601 per carat. Mothae returns to operation!

Known for large and high-value diamonds!   Lucapa Diamond Company and its partner, the Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho, announce the re-commencement of scaled mining operations at the Mothae kimberlite diamond mine in Lesotho.   Mothae has remained on care and maintenance since lockdown and isolation measures forced the suspension of operations in late March 2020 to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Mothae has now resumed mining and treatment operations in compliance with advised health measures to ensure the safety of Mothae’s employees and contractors.   A white diamond of D-colour Type IIa at Lulo   A new monthly carat recovery record of 3,852 carats Lucapa Diamond Company report a second consecutive monthly record for carats recovered from the Lulo alluvial mine in Angola. 3,852 carats were recovered by Lulo from the MB06 leziria area in August 2020, which included 52 specials. This is the second consecutive month in which a carat recovery record has been achieved by the team at Lulo in spite of the challenges placed on personnel movement and the operations as a result of Covid-19. Mining in July and August 2020 concentrated on the MB06 flood plain (leziria) which included the area made accessible by the recently completed river diversion. The gravel deposits in this MB06 leziria area have been largely contiguous, contained thick gravel layers and of high grade. 130 carat diamond recovered at Lulo Lucapa Diamond Company and its partners Endiama and Rosas & Petalas are announced the recent recovery of a 130 carat gem quality diamond from the Lulo Diamond Project in Angola. The 130 carat diamond is the 13th +100 carat diamond recovered to date and the second recovered so far in 2019. This recovery, together with the continued recovery of other large Special white and fancy coloured diamonds continues to highlight the very special nature of the Lulo diamond concession. The 130 carat diamond adds to the current inventory of high-value large Special run-of-mine diamonds, including top colour white diamonds, weighing 128 carats and 62 carats, as well as a number of fancy pink coloured diamonds.
