India and Australia Partnership on Skilling

India and Australia further  Strengthens on Skilling Agenda!   Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and High Commission of Australia holds meeting for Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training. In an endeavor to support Vocational Education and Training (VET) in India and Australia, the Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey and Mr. Barry O’Farrell, Australian High Commissioner, today participated in a virtual meeting to operationalize & implement Cooperation in VET to promote development of occupational standards in priority industry sectors. Physical skill training India by September 21

Change in Skill Development Programmes Post Covid-19!   Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) are imparting on-line skilling through ‘e-SkillIndia’ platform in the midst of Covid-19 lockdown.   Further, Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted the conduct of skill training programmes in physical form from September 21, 2020 onwards.  Accordingly, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) has been issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) for restarting the training.   Under PMKVY, as on 17.03.2020, 42.02 lakh and 33.66 lakh candidates have been trained and certified, respectively, under Short Term Training (STT) courses.  Out of these certified candidates, 17.54 lakh candidates have been provided with placement.  Also, 49.12 lakh candidates who already have the informal skills but are not formally certified have been oriented under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) ...

Government has taken adequate measures to enhance industry’s participation in skill training The government has taken adequate measures to enhance industry’s participation in skill training so as to reduce the post placement dropout rate of trainees. A scheme namely Dual System of Training (DST) with an objective to enable industry to partner with ITIs for conducting training programmes in high employability courses as per industry requirement has been launched from year 2016.   The scheme is amalgamation of theoretical training imparted in ITIs and practical training imparted in the industry premises. The course curriculum has been redrafted as per DST framework. In the National Council on Vocational Training (NCVT) sub-committee meeting dated 28th August 2018, a number of recommendations have been made to further improve the scheme. Setting up of Indian Institute of Skills

3 locations Kanpur,  Mumbai and Ahmedabad focused ! Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has approved the proposal to set up Indian Institute of Skills (IISs) in 3 locations viz. Kanpur, Mumbai and Ahmedabad in the country.   The basic functional design and orientation of existing skill training institutions, which were established during 1960s, have remained substantively the same and, in particular, lack modern training infrastructure and methodology to impart skill training in collaboration with industry leaders.
