MSDE held a send-off ceremony for WorldSkills India Team   The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) organized a send-off ceremony for one of its largest contingents ever—the WorldSkills India Team, comprising 60 participants. These skilled individuals will compete across 61 categories against the best from over 70 countries in Lyon, France.   The international competition, set to take place from September 10-15, 2024, at Euroexpo Lyon, will see more than 1,400 competitors and over 1,300 experts. Needed readiness next phase of G7 diamond import   With the expansion of G7 import restrictions on Russian diamonds on 1 September, De Beers Group is fully prepared to meet the requirements that now extend to diamonds of 0.5 carats and above.    De Beers’ proprietary Best Practice Principles and Pipeline Integrity standards have long provided assurance on the provenance of its diamonds. Imports of Russian diamonds increased by 22.23% YoY

The G7 restrictions were later relaxed. Until September 1, 2025   Russia has maintained its presence in the Indian diamond market and even increased supplies by more than 22% despite the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the West, according to the data from the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry. According to the Ministry, from January to June this year, imports of Russian diamonds increased by 22.23% compared to the same period last year. The Ministry noted that revenues from diamond shipments to India fell by 15.22% over the same period - from $613.72 mln to $520.33 mln.    After the start of Russia's special military operation, the G7 countries announced the introduction of restrictions on the import of jewelry diamonds from Russia from January 1, 2024. The limit for Russian diamonds was set at 1 carat and over from March 1 and was expected to be lowered to 0.5 (1 carat - 0.2 g) from September 1, 2024.    The restrictions were later relaxed.   The tenth greater than 100 carat diamond recovered in 2024 Gem Diamonds announce the recovery of a 129.71ct Type II. White Diamond recovered at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho on late August 2024. This is the tenth greater than 100 carat diamond recovered in 2024. The Letšeng mine is located in the Maluti Mountains of Lesotho and is renowned for its recovery of large, high quality, exceptional Type II diamonds. Among these diamonds recovered are the 910 carat  Lesotho Legend, the 603 carat Lesotho Promise, the 550 carat Letšeng Star and the 493 carat Letšeng Legacy.  The Group owns the Letšeng diamond mine in Lesotho and the Ghaghoo mine in Botswana, with Head Offices in the United Kingdom and Sales and Marketing capabilities in Belgium and Innovation Solutions in Cyprus.
