Designed
to highlight American creativity and resourcefulness, the American Innovation
$1 Coin Program challenges each State or Territory to define its place in the
Nation’s history of innovation. Each of these jurisdictions, in consultation
with the Department of the Treasury, identifies concepts emblematic of an
innovation, an innovator, or a group of innovators unique to that location and
significant to the country’s progress. The Secretary of the Treasury approves
the final design to be struck on each State’s or Territory’s representative
coin.
The
2018 American Innovation $1 Proof Coin launches the American Innovation $1 Coin
Program, which celebrates and honors significant American innovation and
pioneering efforts of individuals or groups in each of the 50 States, District
of Columbia, and U.S. territories.
A
beautiful proof coin is with sharp relief and a mirror-like background with
frosted foregrounds & that giving it a special cameo effect. Minted at
the U.S. Mint at San Francisco with accompanied by a Certificate of
Authenticity.
The
first release in the series, on sale December 14, will be the cornerstone for
those beginning this new collection. The introductory 2018 coin commemorates
the first patent approved by George Washington in 1790—issued to Samuel Hopkins
for his process of making potash, an ingredient in fertilizer. The
American Innovation $1 Coin Program is a wonderful collection that experienced
numismatists and new collectors alike can treasure for years to come. Watch for
the release of the coins highlighting Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and
Georgia during the second half of 2019!
