AGSxGIA Converge - call for poster abstracts
The Converge
taking place from September 7 to 10, 2025
Gemologists and other scientists are invited to submit poster presentation abstracts for consideration as part of Converge, the singular gem and jewelry event that combines the unique expertise of the American Gem Society (AGS) and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), taking place from September 7 to 10, 2025, in Carlsbad, CA.
Converge
brings together GIA's (Gemological Institute of America) innovative gemological
research and industry-leading education with American Gem Society’s (AGS)
professional development and opportunities to connect, helping gem and jewelry
professionals embrace change, navigate uncertainty and uncover new
opportunities for continued success.
Submitted
abstracts must fall into one of the conference’s research themes and will be
reviewed for appropriateness and scientific merit; 1: Gemology – the evolving
science of gems, 2: Diamonds – geology, characterization, evaluation, sources,
treatments, 3: Colored Stones – formation, identification, treatment localities,
4: Pearls – sources, identification, treatments & 5: Instruments, New
Technologies and Techniques.
Abstracts
for the poster session may be submitted to posters@gia.edu by June 16, 2025.
All abstracts should include; A: Title of the proposed poster presentation, B: Name,
affiliation, mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address of the
presenter, C: The conference theme for which the abstract is intended, D: Brief
summary of the research (about 400 words) & D: One figure or table
(optional).
Notification
of acceptance will be sent by July 1. Presenters will be provided with an easel
and foamboard 44 in. tall × 91 in. wide (111.76 × 231.14 cm) for their posters.
Depending on the number of accepted abstracts, posters may rotate during the
three-day event. Poster presenters must register for at least one day of
Converge. Registered with ConvergeEvent or any of the institute- GIA, AGS.
