Bharat’s C&P diamond export also face headwinds

 

Supply line is disrupted in the wake of rising geopolitical unrests 

Recently Bharat released their Export-Import [Exim] performance for the Cut & Polished [C&P] Diamonds for the period of May 2025 & also for the April-May 2025. Even in the June, Bharat is also facing headwinds in the export of Cut & Polished Diamonds. Additionally, supply line is disrupted in the wake of rising geopolitical unrests. 

Overall, the globe is facing utmost uncertainties and change in priority swiftly as the priority of USA gets changed from G7 and Donald Trump left the room of G7 to focus on Israel- Iran conflict! Previously, Shri Narendra Modi had shifted his priority & had returned to Bharat in the wake of terrorist’s attack in Bharat! 

Though India is working hard to ink down various trade accords and venturing to export unexplored new & various export avenues! In the sync of the global business sentiment, Bharat’s export fraternity is leaving no stone unturn in the rock-hard scenario. 

Bharat’s overall gross export of Cut & Polished diamonds remained at US$ 949.70 million (Rs. 8089.81 crores) in month of May 2025 is showing a decline of 35.49% (-34.08% in Rs. Term) as compared to US$ 1472.08 million (Rs. 12272.03 crores) for the same period of previous year.  

The overall gross imports of Bharat’s Cut & Polished diamonds halted at US$ 84.80 million (Rs. 722.74 crores) in month of May 2025 is showing a decline of 38.76% (-37.39% in Rs. term) as compared to US$ 138.47 million (Rs. 1154.4 crores) for the same period of previous year.  

The overall gross imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in Bharat’s DTA at US$ 17.61 million (Rs. 149.96 crores) is showing a Growth of -39.95(-38.64% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 29.33(Rs 244.4 crores) for the same period of May 2025.  

Whereas the overall gross imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in Bharat’s SEZ at US$ 67.19 million (Rs. 572.78 crores) is showing a Decline of -38.44(-37.06% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 109.14(Rs 910.0 crores) for the same period of May 2025.

Further, looking at the Bharat’s Exim for the April-May 2025, the overall gross exports of Cut & Polished diamonds at US$ 2058.70 million (Rs. 17578.92 crores) is showing a decline of 22.41% (-20.55% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 2653.45 million (Rs. 22126.42 crores) for the same period of previous year.  

The overall gross imports of Cut & Polished diamonds for the period of April-May 2025; halted at US$ 146.43 million (Rs. 1250.13 crores) is showing a decline of 35.38% (-33.84% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 226.6 million (Rs. 1889.5 crores) for the same period of previous year.  

The overall gross imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in DTA at US$ 36.1 million (Rs. 308.23 crores) is showing a Decline of -40.33 (-38.88% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 60.49(Rs 504.31crores) for the same period of April-May 2025.  

The overall gross imports of Cut & Polished diamonds in SEZ at US$ 110.34 million (Rs. 941.9 crores) is showing a Decline of -33.58(-32.0% Rs. term) as compared to US$ 166.11(Rs 1385.19 crores) for the same period of April-May 2025.
