African Diamonds Exchange on Agenda!

ADPA ministers meeting with Choicest Agenda in Windhoekon An Angolan delegation led by the Secretary of State for Geology and Mines, Jânio Corrêa Víctor, will participate in the 6th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the African Diamond Producers Association (ADPA) in Windhoek, Namibia. The delegation, which includes officials from the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum and the National Kimberley Process Commission, will discuss with the other members of ADPA the “Report on the activities of the organization's Executive Secretariat for the past two years, schedule of activities for 2019-2020, and Financial report of the association on the financial year 2017.”   It will also analyse the "ADPA Budget for the period of June 2019 to June 2020, Declaration on the proposal for a new definition of conflict diamonds, ADPA Declaration on Synthetic Diamonds, and Proposal for the creation of the Exchange African Diamonds.

Firestone recovers 465680 carats in H1

Yearly guidance range between 820K and 870K carats! Firestone Diamonds announces the result of H1 2019 of Liqhobong Diamond Mine that remained on track to meet guidance. During the period, 465680 carats recovered over the H1 2018 of 379716 carats. Over all full year guidance range is of between 820K and 870K carats that include, the recovery of the largest diamond to date, a 326 carat light yellow makeable stone. Average value per carat of US$71 realised in the period, impacted by prices for smaller, lower value diamonds as that was realised US$74 in H1 2018. Despite the lower rate, revenue of US$27.4 million from three sales remained up over H1 2018 of US$26.0 million from four sales. Diamond Origin Report commenced!

GIA Introduces New Report services, Confirmation through analytical testing! On April 30, GIA will introduce the GIA Diamond Origin Report service which will confirm the country of origin of polished diamonds. To be eligible for this new service, the original rough diamonds and resulting polished diamonds must be submitted to GIA for analysis so that they can be matched to each other and to confirm the origin information provided by the participating mining company. The new report will include the country of origin, a full 4Cs quality analysis of each diamond and a report number inscription. The official launch of the deposit held on October 31, last year! Alrosa announces the preliminary results of an experiment aimed at clarifying the diamond-bearing capacity of the north western area of the Zapolyarnaya pipe, which is a part of the Verkhne-Munskoye deposit. According to the data obtained, Verkhne-Munskoye can become one of the richest in large diamonds among Alrosa’s deposits. The experiment took place on March 11-15. Through that period, the processing plant N12 in the town of Udachny was supplied with ore exclusively from the north-western part of the Zapolyarnaya pipe. The main goal was to find out the color characteristics of diamonds, the grades and the cost of one carat in this particular part of the pipe. During the experiment, about 100 thousand tons of ore was processed.
