For almost fifty years, E. M. Gattle & Co. created beautiful diamond jewelry that rivalled the best American houses in the first decades of the 20th century including Tiffany & Co., Marcus & Co., Theodore B. Starr, Dreicer & Co. and Raymond C. Yard.

Very little is known about the history of the firm, but the jewels that occasionally appear on the market attest to their high level of design and insistence on the finest gemstones.

In a catalogue the firm published in 1914, entitled The Gattle Book, they proudly stated "we import our own gems, design our own mountings, and Gattle Jewelry is developed under the supervision of our own experts."

The firm’s attention to detail and facility with complicated constructions as found in the bracelet offered here position Gattle as a noteworthy entry in the annals of great American jewelers.
