Rowa’s attempt to preserve ethnic craftsmanship
Ensuring India’s artistic heritage to address a global audience
Rituu B. Jhaveri,
founder of Rowa’s Jewels, an esteemed Mumbai-based brand, stands as a modern
visionary, blending a rich family legacy in the precious stone trade with her
creative and entrepreneurial drive. An accomplished jewelry specialist and
distinguished entrepreneur, Rituu is dedicated to carrying forward her family’s
legacy in precious stones and diamonds, established over ninety years ago.
Rituu’s early foray into fashion exhibitions revealed her flair for design and her unique sense of style. After completing her degree in Commerce from Jai Hind College in Mumbai, she deepened her understanding of jewelry by earning certifications in Jewelry Manufacturing and Designing from the Indian Institute of Jewelry in 2010.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, she expanded her knowledge by enrolling in the Marketing Luxury: Understanding the Complexities of a New World of Business, program from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, a course that broadened her perspective on luxury marketing.
“Jewelry for me is an art form,” Rituu once shared. “It’s a balance between honoring our heritage and embracing modern sensibilities. Each piece I create is a tribute to both.” Each piece from Rowa’s Jewels represents Rituu’s meticulous attention to detail and her respect for heritage craftsmanship. She blends traditional artistry with a modern aesthetic, preserving heritage techniques while catering to contemporary tastes.
Her designs
attract a new generation of clientele who value originality and uniqueness,
with pieces that are both classic and forward-thinking. Rituu is especially
passionate about preserving, karigaari (traditional craftsmanship) and vintage
jewelry, ensuring that her brand’s pieces reflect India’s artistic heritage
while appealing to a global audience.
