Empowering women artisans through skill & sustainability
GJSCI continues to promote self-reliance, preserve cultural craftsmanship
GJSCI and MSSIDC Collaborate to Uplift Imitation Jewellery Micro-Entrepreneurs in Kolhapur! The Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI), in collaboration with the Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC), successfully organized a transformative two-day Special Women Empowerment Program under RAMP, in Panchgaon, Kolhapur.
The initiative was aimed at strengthening the skills and capabilities of micro-entrepreneurs in the imitation jewellery sector. The first day of the program was held on August 04 2025, featuring a Skill Development Workshop focused on modern imitation jewellery techniques.
Led by expert
trainer Yasmin, the session brought together 49 women participants. All
micro-entrepreneurs learned new imitation jewellery design ideas to enhance
their existing skills. The workshop not only strengthened their technical
abilities but also encouraged creativity and quality craftsmanship aligned with
current market demands.
On August 05 2025, the emphasis shifted toward long-term growth with a Financial and Digital Literacy Workshop, aimed at improving the business sustainability of Imitation Jewellery MSMEs—especially those led by women.
Conducted by Ashutosh Patil, the session welcomed 50 participants and covered essential topics such as financial planning, digital tools for small businesses, budgeting, and awareness of government loan schemes and banking support available for small-scale entrepreneurs.
Together, these workshops addressed some of the most critical challenges faced by female artisans—ranging from lack of formal training to limited access to financial resources. The program served as a bridge between traditional skills and modern entrepreneurial practices. This initiative reflects GJSCI’s broader mission to empower India’s artisan communities through targeted training, upskilling, and entrepreneurship development. By combining hands-on learning with essential business knowledge, GJSCI continues to promote self-reliance, preserve cultural craftsmanship.
