An intensive training of trainer program by GJSCI

  A total of 12 Trainers joined in this Program held in Mumbai    Skilling being at the core of our activities, a Special Program was curated by GJSCI to Train the Trainer. It was a 3 day long Training Program which commenced on 31st July up to 2nd August, 2025.  Imitation Jewellery Maker & Artificial Jewellery Maker job roles were shortlisted for this program.    A total of 12 Trainers participated in this intensive Training Program held in Mumbai. Trainers hailed from the State of Odisha, Thane & Kolhapur districts of Maharashtra. The major focus of this Training Program was, imparting practical training and preparing the Trainers with the requisite skillsets. A live demonstration was apparently a part of this program, whereby the Participants created some well-crafted pieces of traditional jewellery during their practical learning.   GJSCI continues to promote self-reliance, preserve cultural craftsmanship   GJSCI and MSSIDC Collaborate to Uplift Imitation Jewellery Micro-Entrepreneurs in Kolhapur!  The Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI), in collaboration with the Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC), successfully organized a transformative two-day Special Women Empowerment Program under RAMP, in Panchgaon, Kolhapur.    The initiative was aimed at strengthening the skills and capabilities of micro-entrepreneurs in the imitation jewellery sector. The first day of the program was held on August 04 2025, featuring a Skill Development Workshop focused on modern imitation jewellery techniques.    Led by expert trainer Yasmin, the session brought together 49 women participants.   Unfolded a series of Awards, Convocations & Recognitions     A series of events unfolded on this day at GJSCI worth sharing.  It was GJSCI’s 13th Foundation Day along with Long Service Award distribution, JOSH Convocation Ceremony and Recognition of Centre of Excellence to IIGJ Delhi.    On this auspicious occasion a ceremony was organized where the Chief Guest at the event were Dnyaneshwar B. Patil, IAS, Development Commissioner, SEEPZ-SEZ; Ekta Upadhyay, Director, Academic Administration - IIGJ, Mumbai who was our Special Guest along with Executive Director & CEO Rajeev Garg, & General Manager Operations, Kiran Padture who were all seated at the Dais.    Dnyaneshwar B. Celebrates Graduates & Specially Abled Trainees    The Jewellery Occupational Skilling Hub (JOSH), an initiative by the Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India (GJSCI), held a convocation ceremony at the Mega Common Facility Centre (CFC) in SEEPZ, Mumbai. The event marked the graduation of 115 candidates from the 7th regular batch and the 1st batch of Specially Abled Persons (SAP/PwD).   The trained candidates specialised in various job roles, including Filing & Assembly, Basic Metal Setting, Polishing & Cleaning, Jewellery CAD Designing, Diamond Assorting, Wax Setting, SAP – Filing & Assembly, SAP – Basic Metal Setting, and SAP – Polishing & Cleaning. WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 dates announced!

WorldSkills Shanghai 2022 will Take place 12-17 October 2022   The dates for the 46th WorldSkills Competition, previously scheduled for September 2021 in Shanghai, China, have now been scheduled for 12–17 October 2022. WorldSkills International announced last November the postponement of the championship by one year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. To ensure that the decision to change the date will not impact participants, the WorldSkills General Assembly unanimously approved a onetime change in the age eligibility criteria for the Competition. India eye to expand new age skills!

  Aiming to keep in pace with the changing digital technology!   Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) write to the States to Expand New Age Skills;  In an endeavor to skill and up skill the youth in relevant new age skills, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has urged the Indian states to further expand the new age courses across their respective training centers.     The aim is to keep in pace with the changing digital technology age towards building ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ by meeting the local demand for skilled workforce in the State and also to increase the footprints of Indian workers in national and international markets.   Directorate General of Training (DGT), the apex organization of MSDE for development and co-ordination of the vocational training across the country, will be providing all possible technical support to the States for formulation of new proposals and training of instructors/trainers...

Change in Skill Development Programmes Post Covid-19!   Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) are imparting on-line skilling through ‘e-SkillIndia’ platform in the midst of Covid-19 lockdown.   Further, Ministry of Home Affairs has permitted the conduct of skill training programmes in physical form from September 21, 2020 onwards.  Accordingly, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) has been issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) for restarting the training.   Under PMKVY, as on 17.03.2020, 42.02 lakh and 33.66 lakh candidates have been trained and certified, respectively, under Short Term Training (STT) courses.  Out of these certified candidates, 17.54 lakh candidates have been provided with placement.  Also, 49.12 lakh candidates who already have the informal skills but are not formally certified have been oriented under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) ...

Skill Development Programmes 2020 to benefit 10mn youth The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) implements the PMKV Yojana (2016 - 2020) to encourage and promote skill development for the youth throughout the country. The scheme aims to benefit 10 million youth over the period of four years (2016- 2020). The benefits under the scheme can be availed by any anyone fulfilling the criteria specified in guidelines. In addition, a Special Project is being implemented at 40 locations in 13 states namely Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal by Muthoot Fincorp Pvt Ltd. 80% of the trained candidates will be placed with Muthoot itself (Captive Placement).
