AWDC announces 3rd ASU


Mine to Finger,
the academic program!

Following the success of previous years, this summer the Antwerp World Diamond Centre, together with the University of Antwerp (UA) will organize the third Antwerp Summer University (ASU), From Mine to Finger. The academic program, spanning two weeks at the end of August-early September, is intended for an international group of masters and PhD students, graduates, researchers and (young) professionals from inside and outside the diamond industry.

From Mine to Finger. A deep dive into the world of Diamonds is an intensive two-week programme, hosted by the University of Antwerp (UAntwerp) and the Antwerp World Diamond Center (AWDC). Throughout the programme, students will discover the world of diamonds in every aspect.

Topics include the historical, geological, technical, economical, commercial and ethical perspectives of the global diamond trade. On top of this comprehensive academic overview, a series of diamond talks by industry experts sets the basis for a thorough reflection on future challenges and opportunities for the industry by focussing on innovation and sustainability in every facet of the industry, From Mine to Finger.

Further, summer school participants will be able to attend several hands-on workshops behind the scenes, hereby practically applying and discovering some of the taught content on sorting, polishing, grading and trading diamonds.

The ASU program offers a unique opportunity to boost the knowledge of young staff members or nurture the talent of aspiring diamond experts from your own network of business, family or friends. Invest in future and theirs by enabling them to come to Antwerp and immerse themselves in the fascinating world of diamonds. 

The3rd From Mine to Finger would be held at, University of Antwerp and Diamond Square Mile, Antwerp, Belgium during the 26 August - 6 September 2019. The summer school is designed for final year Bachelor and Master students from various disciplines, as well as young professionals and researchers interested in deepening their knowledge about diamonds and the diamond industry.
